A weekend of vocal exploration to unlock the potency of the voice and bring us home to ourselves.
"This course has changed my life - I have re-found the joy of MY OWN VOICE!!" Lucy J
The voice gives us a direct and embodied experience of ourselves as vibration, as sound makers, as resonant beings. It is our own personal healing tool that we can use to uplift, soothe, release, re-balance and re-align, calling the lost parts of ourselves back home into wholeness.
Would you like to:
Re-connect to your raw, untamed, free voice
Explore different vocal processing techniques to work through obstacles in your life and being
Discover simple tools to tap into your creative expression
Learn about the physiology of the voice and apply simple techniques to develop your sound
Gain awareness of the therapeutic and spiritual aspects of voice work – using voice for healing and prayer
Meet and transform the obstacles to your full and free expression with kindness and love
This course is for anyone who wants to go deeper into their journey with their voice. Whether or not you identify as a singer, we can sometimes feel we have lost our connection with our voice, or that we never found it in the first place. Through powerful and gently guided vocal explorations and exercises, I will take you on a journey through the landscape of your voice, inviting you to meet yourself with curiosity, reverence and playfulness. In this way we can unlock and uncover the natural potency and healing potential of the voice, reclaiming our innate nature as sound beings.
There will be 12-15 participants – this group size will enable us to create a sense of safety and connection over the two days. There will be opportunities to share our experience and witness each other. No one will be asked to sing on their own.
The weekend is about connecting with our sound - we will be using embodied voice and movement exercises to access the voice, rather than singing songs. Using simple but potent creative writing exercises we will find our way to invite words into our free expression. I will use my loop pedal to create live soundscapes for us to free-sing and explore over.
I'm really looking forward to sharing this journey with you.
What others have said about the (online) course:
"Sophia has taught me to nurture the connection with my voice, to hold all of its parts with love and kindness and this has helped me to build confidence in myself and allows me to truly sing free. Sophia's teaching style is inclusive and supportive, she puts me at ease and I feel part of the group.”
"I have received so much from these sessions. The combination of understanding of how the voice works, and then experientially applying this, in different ways - both in technical ways with aspects like pitch, resonance as well as creatively through improvisation - followed by singing simple songs from the heart has been incredible. The sessions feel intimate, nurturing and are held beautifully. I feel like my eyes have been opened to how an exploration with my voice in this way can simultaneously be a journey with my deeper, truer self." Rhiannon L
"This course has been freeing for me. I feel more confident and open with my voice and my body. Connecting deeply with my breath has not only awakened areas of my voice but also grounded me during a time when I felt disconnected from everything." Phoebe N
